Welcome Stephanie Hodges

December 2, 2020 life

This week we would like to introduce you to our new Project Coordinator, Stephanie Hodges.

She has been keeping everyone in the office on task and force feeding us healthy snacks (and they aren’t half bad), but I was able to squeeze in a quick Q&A to our schedules so everyone could learn a little more about her.

Where are you from?

The good ol’ Pacific Northwest and proud of it! I was born and raised in Redmond, Washington, about twenty minutes east of Seattle. No, I don’t drive a Subaru or wear socks with sandals.

What’s your favorite food?

That’s one of the hardest questions in the world. I feel like I should never have to have an answer to this question, but if I HAD to choose, it’d be fresh crab. Or maybe street tacos. Or granola. See my problem here?

What do you like to do on the weekends?

Weather aside, I love to cook. But if it’s summer in Seattle, you can find me on a lake, at a park… anywhere I can catch some sun. I also like exploring breweries, wineries, and I’m a big Seahawks fan so my weekends in the fall are pretty much dedicated to football.

Where have you worked in the past and what did you do?

In college, I worked as the membership services coordinator at the fitness center. I actually really loved that job because I got to work with some awesome people, made lots of new friends, and every year we had a cardboard boat race. It’s exactly how it sounds. You had to build a boat out of cardboard and duct tape only, and row it across the pool and back.

My job before Urban Influence was at a B2B tech/cloud services company. We didn’t have boat races there.

What do you love most about being a Project Coordinator?

Being exposed to so many different industries through our client work is really interesting. The audiences, branding, and character of these businesses are all so different, and it’s really cool to be part of that and experience it.

On the internal side, I really enjoy the team at UI. Everyone is down-to-earth, quirky, wicked smart, and sarcastic. My kind of people!

Favorite vacation you ever took and why?

This would have to be when I visited Thailand and Hong Kong a couple years ago. Thailand, even though it was mega hot, was really beautiful and I loved all the street food and cheap massage places. Hong Kong is where my mom is from, and that’s the first time I had ever been. It was really special to experience the place she grew up (even though it is very different today), and eat the most delicious f’ing dumplings I’ve ever had. Drooling.

If you could have a super power what would it be?

I guess there are a lot of super powers to choose from, but the one that comes to mind is teleportation. Flights are expensive, uncomfortable, and long. I don’t like sitting for long periods of time, and airports are a pain. If you take all of that away, it makes traveling so much more enjoyable! So yeah, teleportation. Final answer.
